EagleThe population of Kitsap County was 239,500 in 2004.  Approximately 16,000 people live in the area typically defined as Silverdale (an unincorporated area of the county.)  Although rural in appearance, Kitsap County is rated second highest in population density of 39 counties in the State.   The county also enjoys the eighth highest median income of the 39 Washington counties.

Although Armed Forces personnel population has been reduced in other parts of Washington State, Kitsap County has maintained a fairly steady military population. In fact, this last year Kitsap County experienced a 16% increase in its military population.
